KRISTA bernasconi

Krista founded a public relations firm in 2012, after working in local government and for a publicly traded company headquartered in Roseville. During that time, she developed and executed government affairs plans, coordinated community outreach and created invaluable partnerships, skills which are used to run the firm’s day-to-day operations.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Krista earned a bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State. Working at the federal and local levels of government, Krista’s wide range of experience offers clients expansive public affairs experience. Her work led to being named as Sacramento region’s “40 Under 40,” and she is a recipient of the Athena Award and Sacramento State’s Distinguished Service Award, both presented for demonstrating professional excellence, community service and leadership skills.

Krista’s involvement in the community has been extensive and has deepened her understanding of public and private partnerships. She served as a board member on the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce and their political action committee and is a former president of the Lighthouse Family Resource Center.

Elected in a citywide election to the Roseville City School Board in 2002 and 2006, Krista served eight years as a school board member and completed a Masters of Governance course through the California School Board Association. For eight years, Krista served as planning commissioner for the City of Roseville, which oversees both long and short term land use development, including zoning matters, oversight and maintenance of general and specific plans as well as reviewing Environmental Impact Reports. She is a founding board member of IGNITE Young Professionals in Roseville and the Roseville City School District Foundation. Most recently, she was appointed to chair a citywide initiative called Community Priorities Advisory Committee for nine months, making recommendations to the city council regarding budget issues and identifying potential revenues sources.

Away from the office, Krista enjoys being outdoors with her husband Tony and their twins, Nick and Ella.

When people around town ask me where I am from, there’s always a reaction when I tell them “Roseville.” I think that’s because everyone who lives here acknowledges the incredible growth and change this city has experienced. Whether you were born here like I was, or moved here because of its desirability for excellent schools, opportunities for growth or for family, we make Roseville our home because of its small town feel. We all want to live where we feel safe and can enjoy the outdoors. And Roseville fits the bill.

I have decided to run for city council because I love Roseville. But there has to be more than love to get through the long and often tedious hours of community service, reading through materials and making challenging decisions in the best interest of our citizens.

For me, it comes down to wanting to make Roseville an even better place to call home. I want for our residents to not only feel safe but to be safe. I want our city to be fiscally conservative and not live beyond its means. I want our city to be ready for the next wave of growth yet ready to face economic challenges. I want our city to attract people of all ages because of all it has to offer--outdoor recreation, ease of navigating our infrastructure, the ability to attract talent and enterprise.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve you--our residents--on Roseville’s City Council.
